Sol Terrah
Waterworks
It is estimated that between 2009 and 2020, 76 million people will perish from water born diseases. This is a tragic statistic that can be remedied because much of the solution lies in the air we breathe! The earth’s atmosphere carries an enormous amount of water. At 50% relative humidity, the amount of water flowing in a 10 mile per hour wind over a farmer’s square-mile farm in Kansas with a clear sky overhead amounts to 6.9 billion gallons per day. That is 21,140 acre-feet, enough to cover the farmer’s land to a depth of 33 feet of water every day.
The winds over the U.S. carry far more water than all the American rivers combined. Most of that water is carried back out over the oceans without being used. This dynamic relationship is true in many portions of the world. The problem is how to access that water for human consumption. SolTerrah has solutions that are cutting edge.
If no seawater, brackish water, or wastewater is available, then we can extract water from the air. Our Waterworks provides an economical way to extract water from the atmosphere. It removes water from the air with small energy requirement. By using solar power from a source such as Suntrof®, the plant will produce not only solar water, but also electric power.
This is a method that SolTerrah is pursuing since there are many places in the world that need water, but there is no nearby ocean from which to get it. Many of those places have copious sunshine. There are a number of companies that are producing small machines that extract solar water, but they require a lot of energy (300 to 1,000 calories per gram of water).
We have several new designs that can produce water from the air much less expensively than those expensive and inefficient models. The Waterworks has enormous potential in many regions of the world.
